Our conference theme "Radical Re-membering” is drawn from Ezekiel 37:1-14. According to the story, God brings Ezekiel to a valley full of dry bones. There, God asks Ezekiel, “Can these bones live?” to which Ezekiel replies, “Oh God, you know.” God instructs Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones, saying to them, “Oh dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.” Then God speaks to the bones saying, “I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. I will lay sinews on you and will cause flesh to come upon you and cover you with skin and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”
This year's conference will call us to both remember and re-member our connection to the Earth, our bodies, and our communities - connections which have been severed by the forces of capitalism, colonialism, and white supremacy. We will engage in embodied practices of movement, art, and music as ways of healing from our own dis-memberment and as tools for building a new Christian community which is rooted in radical inclusivity, global engagement, and the prophetic Biblical tradition.
