This year’s conference theme, “Radical Re-membering,” is drawn from Ezekiel 37:1-14, where Ezekiel encounters God in the valley of dry bones. Students and young adults from across the U.S. are invited to join us as we seek to both remember and re-member our connections to the Earth, our bodies, and our communities - connections which have been severed by the forces of capitalism, colonialism, and white supremacy. As Christians following the prophetic tradition, we believe in God’s ability to breathe new life into dry bones, in the possibility of a different world where our systems reflect the Biblical values of radical love, solidarity, and hospitality. We know that it is our responsibility as Christians to help bring this world to fruition.
Throughout the conference, we will engage in the embodied practices of movement, art, storytelling, and music as ways of healing from our own dis-memberment and as tools for building a new Christian community. We will explore the topics of abolition, queer liberation, and ecological justice and how these topics connect to our Christian faith. We will participate in Bible study, worship, and small group discussion to root us firmly our Christian tradition. We hope you will join us!
When: October 19-22, 2023
Where: Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, IL (just outside of Chicago)
Who: Students (undergrad & graduate), non-student young adults (18-35 yrs), campus ministers, chaplains, higher education denominational staff, WSCF friends and alumni
